Network Security Engineer (hybrid or remote)

    Your role in the team

     

     

    The successful candidate will be a key member of the Network Security Engineering team and should come from a background in networking and/or security. We are seeking a pro-active, detail orientated and highly motivated individual who would also be comfortable with client facing aspects of the role.

     

     

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

     

    • Ongoing design, build, and support of Palo Alto firewalls and services
    • Ongoing design, build, and support of Web Proxy solution in Allstate
    • Ongoing design, build, and support of Network Forensic solution in Allstate
    • Ongoing design, build, and support of Packet Broker in Allstate
    • Ongoing design, build, and support of IDS solution in Allstate
    • Consult on requests the come into the Network Security Engineering teams ServiceNow queue
    • Ensuring requests meet information security standards
    • Implementing approved Firewall Change Requests
    • Peer reviewing team member's implementations
    • Liaising with interfacing Security and Network teams to troubleshoot Firewall incidents
    • Participating in ongoing Firewall Policy improvement activity

     

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a network and/or security related role
    • 2 years' experience of firewalls
    • Solid understanding of IT Security concepts; and
    • Good understanding of networking (subnetting, VPN, switching and routing); and
    • Ability to translate customer requirements into a technical solution

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Experience of Palo Alto Firewalls
    • Exposure to Next Generation Firewalls
    • Experience of IDS/IPS technologies (preferably Cisco)
    • Experience of proxy technologies
    • Experience with network forensics technologies (preferably NetWitness)
    • Experience with network packet broker technologies (preferably Ixia)
    • Experience of VPN technologies (preferably Palo Alto Global Protect)
    • Experience troubleshooting utilizing network packet traces
    • Experience using Python or similar scripting language
    • Palo Alto Certifications
    • Cisco Certifications
    • CompTia Security+ or Network+
    • Knowledge of Server Load Balancing concepts
