  Allstate operate a very flexible hybrid working policy that will allow you to design your working week in collaboration with your manager with a blend of remote and office working for NI based employees as well as condensed working patterns (4 day week/9 day fortnight). Employees based in GB will be employed on a permanent remote working contract.

  Your role in the team

   

  Allstate is looking for and experienced leader that will accelerate Allstate’s move into the public cloud. The position is with the Allstate Cloud Engineering Design and Security group. CEDS is responsible for making the cloud seamless and secure at Allstate and Allstate’s Family of Companies.

   

  The Cloud Engagement Manager will lead a group of Cloud Engineers as they partner with application areas to migrate to the Allstate Cloud Environment. The Cloud Engagement team works closely with the product team and partners with applications areas to help them migrate to the cloud using best practices such as Infrastructure as code and educate applications areas on best practices. The team consists of talented individuals that are passionate about technology and work collaboratively on achieving Allstate’s goals. The environment isn’t a typical engineering environment in that we follow an XP Type mindset in which all the engineers are paired and the whole team including the manager are on a standup every day and in close collaboration throughout the day.  The Cloud Engagement manager will work closely with the engineers to make sure any obstacles are cleared and help make the engineers as productive as possible. 

   

  • Leads Engineers in overseeing and developing the various opinionated cloud environments and platforms while aligning them with business and security strategies and requirements
  • Work closely with Product Managers to prioritize the backlog and collaborate on Infrastructure Roadmaps
  • Hands-on experience with cloud solutions at massive scale and resiliency
  • Experience in design, development, and deployment of business software in cloud environments
  • Leads Engineers that design architecture with various cloud providers that meets technical, security, and business needs for applications and workloads.
  • Champions the engineering practices and helping teams define and setup frameworks for infrastructure as code and immutable infrastructure concepts
  • Establishes the strategy and manages complex technical designs in engineering and operating cloud platform infrastructure
  • Oversees and develops the strategy and manages complex designs for the continuous integration and continuous delivery frameworks and tools
  • Contribute to technology strategy and engineering roadmaps around cloud platforms; executes strategic engineering proof of concepts around cloud platforms
  • Defines and develops new products and services that provides functions- “as-a-service”
  • Champions for the appropriate use of open source and commercial technology based upon industry trends and innovative concepts

   

   

  So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

   

  • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
  • 5+ years of application development and infrastructure engineering experience
  • A minimum of 2 years management experience of global teams across the various engineering practices
  • Previous experience designing and implementing complex applications and distributed systems into public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure & GCP)

   

   

  We also have some desirable criteria

   

  • Experience and solid understanding of infrastructure technologies such as network, compute, and storage
  • Experience in infrastructure programming using languages like Python, Ruby, Go
  • Experience and solid understanding of complex, multi-region, highly available state-less and state-full deployments
  • Solid understanding of security and compliance frameworks, standards and implementation in public cloud environments
