Your role in the team
The Product Owner (PO) Sr Consultant is responsible for defining stories and prioritizing the team backlog to implement epics, features, and stories in alignment with the program vision. The PO will work closely with other agile team members including the Release Train Engineer (RTE), System Architect, Product Managers, and Scrum Master.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
- Provides expertise for multiple areas of the business through analysis and understanding of analytical needs
- Supports efforts for program backlog refinement and prep for Program Increment (PI) planning
- Provides and writes story definition, including the clarifications necessary to assist with story and feature estimates and sequencing
- Leads functional design process based on an intimate knowledge of the users and technology and participates in technical walk-throughs
- Demonstrates an understanding of the overall technology ecosystem as well as individual real-time and batch integrations supporting the business unit
- Provides guidance to technology teams on integrating data from various sources and maintaining information related to source and accuracy. This will also include making appropriate decisions based upon documented data quality and/or source.
- Adds value to information by analysis and interpretation of opaque information
- Evaluates requests for specific files or data and identifies issues/concerns with the planned use of the data
- Studies and tests interaction between systems or processes to take advantage of new and more effective ways of providing needed information
- Collaborates in the planning, design, development and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications
- Collaborates with technology teams in interpreting third party data and provides recommendations on mapping of that data to internal sources for Analytics and other use cases
- Maintains data-related backlog which will consist of user stories, defects and enablers; backlog items will need to be prioritized based on business and risk values, time and other team dependencies
- Uses appropriate tools and techniques to elicit and define requirements that address more complex business processes or projects of moderate to high complexity, particularly around the organization’s analytics needs
- Validates stories meet test acceptance criteria
- Collaborates with Product Manager on Story Maps, Customer Journey Maps, Program Roadmap and Program Vision
- Provides informal coaching to other members on the team
- Executes change control process to manage changes to base lined deliverables and scope for projects of moderate to high complexity
- Partners with data and business stakeholders in the development of core metrics, analytics framework, and data management processes that facilitate high quality data and insights and enable efficient real time analytics
- Partners with data and business stakeholders to define and communicate our data strategy
- Works with Technology teams to guide efficient implementation of our data strategy and help define how our data and reporting needs can be met with enterprise solutions
- Supports SE&A teams in partnering with business teams across the organization to define reporting stories, use cases and requirements; collaborate with data scientists and data analysts to develop and deploy products efficiently
So, what are the essential criteria to apply?
- All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
- At minimum 3 years relevant experience in a Product Ownership OR Business Systems Analyst OR Data Science, or Business Analytics focused role
- Proven track record of agile delivery
The candidate must also demonstrate competencies in:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire customers, partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
- Ability to prioritize effectively
- Ability to mentor and be a thought leader to others
- Understanding of process flows and business rules
