    Your role in the team

     

    We are excited to announce a new Scrum Master role opening within Allstate Business Insurance (ABI) at Allstate Northern Ireland to join our rapidly expanding team.

     

    The successful candidate will work on the new ABI Transformative Growth product, CAP (Commercial Auto Product).   ABI has created CAP to focus on small businesses with less than five vehicles, creating a new and modern user experience for customers and agents on a new Duck Creek Technology platform.  The vision is to enable customers and agents to quote, bind and service commercial policies in a simple yet engaging way.

     

    The Role

     

    As a member of the ABI CAP Product Team, you’ll play a central role in making sure the entire team is enabled and empowered to get things done. The successful candidate will relish change, demonstrate drive to implement relentless improvement and enjoy working closely both with their own team and other Scrum Masters in the ART to overcome hurdles to meeting goals.  You’ll play a vital role in understanding the big picture, communicating dependencies, and ensuring impediments are addressed.

     

     

    The Scrum Master is the facilitator and team level coach, a server leader in supporting teams to embrace, implement and adhere to Agile principles.  In this role, they will work across two teams on an ART, instilling and promoting Scrum processes and fostering an environment to build high performance teams.

     

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    • Support the teams in adoption and adherence to Agile principles, scrum events and team rules.
    • Coach the teams in scrum values, empiricism, self-organization, cross functionality, and continuous improvement. Identify and act on opportunities for team growth.
    • Exhibit servant leadership, supporting the teams to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity.
    • Facilitate team events, ensuring they are productive and kept within the timebox.
    • Collaborate and partner within and beyond one's teams, building productive relationships across the platform including with DevOps and Release Management.
    • Understand the big picture, co-ordinate cross team dependencies and foster program collaboration.
    • Undertake preparation and ensure team readiness for ART events including PI Planning, System Demos and the Inspect & Adapt.
    • Fulfil responsibilities on the ART, coordinate inter team co-operation, including vendor teams, and help teams operate well on the train.
    • Support the Product Owner in effective backlog management and ensure they know how to arrange the product backlog to maximize value.
    • Support the teams in creating high value products by addressing and eliminating impediments blocking iteration goals
    • Lead efforts in relentless improvement by using your knowledge of Agile anti patterns and problem-solving techniques to continually develop the teams.

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical role,
    • A minimum of 2+ years Scrum Master experience
    • Has level of experience to effectively support 2 teams at the start of their Agile journey
    • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach teams towards high performance in an Agile environment
    • Deep knowledge of Agile principles, methodologies, reporting tools and techniques and the flexibility to adapt previous experience to new and evolving environments

     

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Scrum Master certification; PMI - Agile Certified Practitioner
    • Experience on an Agile Release Train
    • Prior experience in software development.
    • Experience with Agile concepts such as User Experience and Design Thinking.
    • Experience in working with Software Vendors & Releases.
    • Great interpersonal skills working in a team environment
