Digital Engineer – Systems Engineering

  • The Northern Ireland Technology Centre (NITC) an industry facing unit within the within the Faculty Office EPS at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint a Digital Engineer focused on systems engineering.

    The successful candidate will work on projects that will bring opportunity to develop links and collaborate with other like-minded advanced technology centres within the UK and further afield, as well as with our industry partners and academic colleagues. 

    This project, along with your direct input, will positively impact our local economy and bring new technical benefits to manufacturing industry. 

    This is truly an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated team player who is passionate about innovative technology and is interested in advancing their knowledge and experience in this area. 

    You will also have the opportunity to work closely with our industry partners, utilising your digital engineering knowledge to leverage innovative and imaginative new process developments to further industry 4.0.  

    The successful candidate must have and your CV/Cover letter should clearly demonstrate you have: 

    • Honours degree in computing, engineering, science, or a related discipline with at least three years’ relevant industrial experience OR minimum HND in a related discipline with at least five years’ relevant industrial experience.
    • A minimum of two years recent relevant experience in Machine Learning and Data Analytics utilising the Python framework.
    • Demonstrable knowledge and/or experience in the operation and integration of shop-floor assets such as robots/vision systems or tracker systems into a cyber digital twin.
    • Demonstrable evidence of the development of Digital Twin visualisation from multiple resources including machine learning models.
    • Strong evidence of working within multifaceted environments delivering to deadlines and within budget.
    • Experience of using research tools and techniques resulting in high quality project and technical reports.

    Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
