    Your role in the team

     

     

    The Enterprise Economics & Risk Analysis (EERA) team is a cross-functional team operating at the heart of decision-making at Allstate. The team quantifies and optimizes risk and return for Allstate as a whole and provides macroeconomic advice to our portfolio managers to inform investment decisions on our $64 billion portfolio. EERA is led by the Chief Economist and has team members in both the USA and the UK. The team reports to the Chief Risk Officer and provides advice directly to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors. 

     

     

    This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data Analysis branch of EERA to support macroeconomic forecasting, investment decision-making and business-wide risk analysis. Responsibilities will include scenario analysis to stress test the business, development of new analytical tools to make better investment decisions and developing our economic capital framework. This includes the development and management of predictive modeling and the design and development and vetting of original methodology.  

     

     

     

    • Develop and implement econometric risk models to directly address material business needs 
    • Assist in developing macroeconomic scenarios to stress the business, and assessing their potential impacts on the investment portfolio and insurance 
    • Develop econometric and analytical tools to support the investment process and improve the understanding of movements in macro and financial variables 
    • Support the preparation of in-depth studies and commentaries on key investment issues  
    • Support the asset allocation process with timely insights and forecasts 
    • Day to day management and maintenance of the existing models  

     

     

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

     

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • PhD degree in Econometrics or applied Economics  
    • Solid understanding of macroeconomics and econometrics, including the ability to recognize the practical implications of analytical results  
    • Strong quantitative skills with experience in economic modelling and empirical analysis 
    • Knowledge of time series analysis  
    • Programming experience in Matlab and/or R  
    • A strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to deliver to tight deadlines 
    • An ability to communicate complex ideas and analysis into practical terms for non-experts 

     

     

     

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

     

    • Knowledge of Bayesian Econometrics  
    • Understanding of financial markets, insurance, financial modeling and macroeconomic linkages  
    • Working experience in a financial institution or insurance company 
    • Knowledge of Python
