    Your role in the team

     

    As an APM Senior Team Manager you will be part of a global leadership team and tasked with improving availability, stability and performance of highly complex Product Technology (PT) owned applications, both in Production and non-Production. This manager will have a large directly managed team across 3 shores. This leader will partner closely with PT development and Security teams, as well as with various teams across the Enterprise, including Infrastructure Services and application support and development teams from other applications areas.

    This exciting opportunity will cover all aspects of leadership, ranging from resource leadership to capacity forecasting. This opening will suit a self-managed individual as there will be potential to influence the entire PT organization and drive improvement into multiple systems. This role has direct exposure to Senior Leadership in Product Technology and other areas of Allstate.

     

    • Directly manage teams that
      • Monitor the Production landscape – core applications and associated integrations – proactively and engage others as necessary.
      • Monitor Production environments for unusual patterns in errors, exceptions and utilization, using a variety of tools including Dynatrace and Splunk.
      • Drive SWAT (ECC) calls to restore service as quickly as possible, engaging appropriate internal and external teams as necessary.
      • Validate Production availability following change activity.
      • Monitor the Alliance Development environments for availability and stability.
    • Drive automation of monitoring and alerting.
    • Partner with other teams that support integration services to improve their availability and monitoring capabilities.
    • Partner with Enterprise Problem Management and PT Development teams to improve Problem Management effectiveness.
    • Produce availability analysis/reports and drive improvement actions.
    • Partner with PT Environment Support Team on initiatives aimed at improving availability and stability of the application environments.
    • Drive improvements in the availability and stability of non-Production environments, with the goal of reducing downtime for developers and testers.
    • Participate as a core member of the Incident Response Team for PT.
    • Provide leadership and perform necessary administrative duties such as human resource management, employee performance management and other duties as required.
    • On-call support when required

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • Have experience working in a global team and
    • Minimum of 5 years technical experience across linux/unix environments 
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of managing a technical team 
    • Proven ability to influence large organizations and drive change
    • Prior experience in driving and improving production stability and performance, detailing key examples across career or specific experience leading a Performance Engineering function
    • Experience of inspiring and influencing key strategic change even without direct management responsibilities.

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

     

    • Previous experience leading Application Performance Monitoring for a complex application/environment.
    • Extensive leadership experience managing team(s) across multiple global locations
