    Your role in the team

     

    Our Mobile Test team are currently seeking a Test Engineer to work on advancing an API First approach to Transformative Growth work in 2021.  Whilst this is initially a 9 month placement covering maternity leave, there may be scope to be made permanent.  Supporting Allstate Mobile you will get the opportunity to work in a fast-paced agile environment developing automated API test scripts using Continuous Testing best practices.  

     

    We are looking for an enthusiastic Test Engineer with a specialism in services/API testing to partner with the Mobile Development teams to develop and implement a strategy which partners continuous API & UI testing for the Mobile App.   

     

    You will work with the Product Owner and developers to deliver work in an agile manner, participating in scrum ceremonies to help mature and maintain an automation framework for API tests, refining & making improvements as necessary.  

     

    This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract basis until end December 2021.

     

     

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

     

    • Collaborate with the Product Owners, Development and Testing team to deliver quality software  
    • Build and maintain scripts for an API automation framework 
    • Support and give input in to a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline 
    • Provide input in to the test strategy  
    • Review, analyze & document bugs/issues accurately and clearly 
    • Accurately identify project risks and report to relevant stakeholders 
    • Create and maintain reusable test data  
    • Maintains the status of work and provide guidance to the work of junior team members 
    • Participate in all agile ceremonies.   

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a hands-on technical role within the Software Development Lifecycle
    • Knowledge and understanding of Web Services / API in relation to software testing
    • Demonstrable use of at least one Service testing tool e.g. SOAP UI, Ready API, Postman
    • Experience of writing test scripts 
    • Experience of Java or similar object-oriented programming language
    • Practical experience with Source Code Management Tools (e.g. Git, SVN) 
    • Good problem solving and communication skills 

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Experience working in agile methodology (e.g. Scrum or XP) 
    • Knowledge & experience of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g. Jenkins) 
    • Knowledge and understanding of test environments, test data, code build and code migration concepts  
    • Demonstrate personal projects or experience utilizing UI automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Appium, TestNG) 
    • Strong leadership skills
